P.J Obriens - The Irish Pub
With daily $10 meal deals and 3 happy hour options EVERYDAY, you can’t go wrong with coming to this quaint Irish pub located in the CBD of Cairns. They offer 2-4-1 basic spirits and $13 jugs, between the hours of 5-6pm, 9-10pm, and 11pm-12am. This pub is one of the go-to places in Cairns with so many reasons to swing by. Belt out some tunes for Karaoke on Wednesdays or test your brain skills on Trivia Tuesdays.
Wool Shed/Cotton Club.
If you have been to Cairns before, you know Woolshed is the spot to be for a night out. You can dance the night away either down or upstairs (You can even dance on the tables!). Each floor has two completely different vibes, both are a lot of fun! During the day Wooldshed upstairs is closed and Cotton Club takes over. This is a great place to grab a refreshing drink or tasty meal in the heart of the city. Their happy hour runs from 5-7pm everyday, and consists of the following: $12 jugs/$6 pints, $5 basic spirits, $5 house wine, $15 cocktail jugs of Club Punch.
Rattle N Hum
If you’re after a classic Aussie pub, this is it. Rattle N Hum is located on the Esplanade, right across from the Lagoon. It’s a perfect spot to get out of the sun after a day at the Lagoon, and also offers a wicked happy hour. Happy hour runs from 5-7pm with Beer jugs for $13, house spirits $6.50, house wine $6, and sparkling wine for $5.
Pier Bar
Pier Bar is located in between the Marina and Lagoon. It has a more modern Australian bar vibe and features outdoor seating, overlooking the ocean. It’s a very popular spot for a few drinks with friends and is known for its delicious wood fired pizzas. They have happy hour everyday running from 5-7pm which includes, $4 schooner/$5 pints of beers and ciders, $5.50 spirit & $5 150ml or $9 250ml of house wines.
Howling Jays
Howling Jays is a quirky, American pub which is located right beside Pier bar. The decor is reason enough to check this place out. They don’t have a happy hour per say, but this deal was too good to not write about. Here you can enjoy $4 ‘shit’ beer (XXXX Gold) and $4 tequila shots all day, everyday. They even put your beer in a brown paper bag when serving it to you! It is a perfect spot to go with family or friends, or if you’re craving some real, greasy, American food.
Salt House
This is my favorite venue in Cairns. It’s vibe is unlike any other place I have been to. It’s located at the edge of the marina, overlooking the water. With day beds to soak up the rays in the days, to fire features and ponds throughout, you could stay here for ages and be perfectly content. If that’s not enough to entice you to check it out, they also have 2-4-1 meal deals Monday-Wednesday. They throw hospo nights on Mondays from 8pm-12am at the front bar, which offers basic spirits for $4.50 (Belvedere Vodka is considered basic here, btw.), $5 selected shots & $4.50 tap beers & cider.
